A man has been arrested after an immigration raid on a fast food restaurant in Sutton.
Officers from the south London Immigration Enforcement team visited Favorite Chicken & Ribs in London Road yesterday afternoon, October 11, where staff were questioned about their right to live and work in the UK.
The Home Office said the restaurant, based on was warned that a penalty of £20,000 would be imposed unless there's evidence that document checks were carried out on staff, such as evidence of seeing a passport.
A 43-year-old man from India was arrested.
A spokesman from the Home Office said: "Officers arrested a 43-year-old Indian man who had overstayed his visa.
"The man is currently in immigration detention while steps are taken to remove him from the UK."
