A new community parking zone will be trialled in west Twickenham this coming spring after a consultation with residents exposed concerns.

Residents supported the introduction of parking controls in the area and complained that daytime commuter traffic has resulted in a lack of parking spaces for the community.

Richmond Council's cabinet Member for highways and street scene, councillor Peter Buckwell, said: “Following engagement with the local community the Council will implement a new parking control scheme in the areas north of The Green in Twickenham.

“I am confident residents will feel this addresses their concerns about parking spaces available to the community due to daytime commuter traffic and non-residents taking up parking spaces.

“The changes are in line with the Council’s overarching policy to address localised parking problems and road safety problems caused by parked vehicles, including the essential need to maintain access for the emergency services.”

The scheme will cover two areas: around Colne Road, Knowle Road, Edwin Road, Albion Road, Marsh Farm Road, Talbot Road, Hamilton Road, Warwick Road, and Norcutt Road, and around Crane Road, May Road, Gravel Road, and Gould Road.

The community parking zone is expected to be implemented in February/March 2018 and will be reviewed after six months.
