A Wallington teenager has pleaded guilty to slapping his girlfriend because they could not find a car park.

Tyrone Mulholland-Davies, 18, drove around Brighton with his girlfriend for hours trying to find a hotel car park.

When they eventually found it in King’s Road, the couple’s arguing continued and Mulholland-Davies slapped Sarah Hamid in the face.

He pleaded guilty at Brighton Magistrates' Court on Thursday, September 28, to assault by beating.

The court heard the couple had come down from London for a short break on August 22 and after struggling to find the hotel car park.

A witness saw the defendant slap Miss Hamid outside the toilet in the car park.

The incident was captured on CCTV.

In mitigation, Mulholland-Davies, said: “It was a heated argument. We are still together now. It was definitely a one-off incident.”

Mulholland-Davies, of Raleigh Avenue was given a conditional discharge for 12 months.

He also has to pay £135 in court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
