Images of items thought to belong to a man who sexually assaulted two girls in Ewell and Claygate have been released.

In CCTV previously released, a man is seen walking down Steven’s Lane towards Claygate centre 30 minutes prior to when a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a man in a wooded area in Claygate.

The man was wearing a distinctive blue jacket with a Chelsea FC badge and Adidas logo and a black cap with a Ferrari logo. Along the side of the cap there is a 10th Anniversary Partnership sticker. These items were then found discarded the following week in Berkley Gardens.

A month earlier on July 10, a 15-year-old girl was riding a bicycle along the Hogsmill River estate in Ewell when a man pushed her off her bike and sexually assaulted her.

Later that day between 5.50pm and 6pm the same man is seen walking up Stevens' Lane, he then runs into Hill View Road (the entrance to Ruxley Heights private estate), his last known direction of travel was up Stevens' Lane heading north towards the junction of Woodstock Lane and Chessington.

On both occasions the victims were able to break away from the man and run to safety.

Detective Chief Inspector Jo Hayes from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, who is leading the investigation, said: “So far we have a good picture of the suspect and we’ve had a number of names put to us which we’ve been able to rule out due to the DNA profile that we have of the man we’d like to speak to.

“I am specifically interested in hearing from you if you know someone who might have owned the clothing or items pictured, recognise the broken ear bud that went missing from 17 August, and noticed any suspicious activity.

“Did you see a relative or friend acting oddly on the dates in question or notice any scratches to their face around 10 July?

“These young girls have suffered a terrifying ordeal and we need to find this man before he strikes again. I am appealing directly to anyone who may know the suspect or recognises the man in the CCTV.

“Are you his mother, wife or friend? If so, I would appeal to you to do the right thing and come forward with information.”
