There is no cellar better than the one at The White Bear pub.

At least that's what the judges at the Brakspear's annual awards thought.

The Warlingham pub was rewarded with a Best Kept Cellar award in recognition of its consistently high standards in the cellar and the quality of its beer.

One of the pub's managers Owen Hardy was delighted to see their hard work pay off.

"A well-kept cellar is at the heart of a great pub and we put a lot of work into maintaining high standards in our cellar, which translates into great beer served to our customers," he said.

"It's good to have that effort recognised."

The White Bear was assessed by an independent inspector from Cask Marque, the beer quality organisation, who checked everything relating to beer service from cellar temperature and cask rotation to glassware. Standards at the pub were judged to be outstanding.

Presenting the award, Brakspear chief executive Tom Davies said: "We take our annual awards very seriously, thoroughly reviewing all nominations to ensure that the prize goes to the most deserving pubs.

"We congratulate Owen, Jade and the team at the White Bear for their achievement and we look forward to watching their success continue."

All 130 Brakspear pubs were considered for the awards presented on the night.
