An unknown substance was reportedly thrown a man’s face in the centre of Kingston this afternoon.

The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was sitting in his stationary vehicle in Fife Road when two people on a moped allegedly pulled up next to him, threw the substance and fled.

Police were called at 12.30pm, and they attended with the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade.

The man was taken to a south London hospital as a precaution but was not seriously injured, and specialists have since found that the liquid was non-corrosive.

There have been no arrests, but enquiries continue.
