Amateur drama groups in Richmond were recognised for their work in the arts during Swan Awards for Drama and Musicals.
Held in Teddington over the weekend, the awards have been around since 1985 and encourage and raise standards in local amateur drama.
This season more than 30 productions were assessed by a panel of judges who have nominated performances in 15 categories.
Winners included:
• Best Production of a Play: METAMORPHOSIS directed by Rodney Figaro (Richmond Shakespeare Society)
• The Judges’ Award: Lee Dewsnap for his arrangement of the score for The Mikado (Hounslow Light Opera Co,)
• THE ACCOLADE – for services to the arts in the borough: JEAN WOOD (St. Mary’s Drama Group)
• Best Youth Production: Titanic, The Musical directed by Sarah Dowd and Elizabeth Lattimore (YAT – Youth Action Theatre))
Councillor David Linnette said:
“It was a pleasure to be involved in this celebration of the arts in the borough.
“We are very lucky to have such talented residents and strong support for the arts in Richmond upon Thames.
“Congratulations to the winners and nominees, and to all the artists who entertained our community this year.”
