A Clapham nursery has been rated ‘good’ following its first Ofsted inspection last month.

Brighter Horizons Clapham Village, located a short walk from Clapham Common tube station on Brommel’s Road, received the inspection on August 8 and rated good in all four areas.

These were: effectiveness of leadership and management; quality of teaching, learning and assessment; personal development, behaviour and welfare; and outcomes for children.

Inspection activities included the inspector carrying out a joint observation with the nursery manager, Kathleen Philpott, as well as speaking to parents.

The inspector was said to be ‘very complimentary’ of the nursery and observed ‘excellent practice’ throughout all rooms.

She was also said to be impressed by how the nursery team, as a whole, monitor children’s progress and how they carry out regular observations and assessments in order to plan for individual children’s learning.

It is said to be a “safe, secure and welcoming nursery environment” and the inspector continued to praise the “happy and close relationships the children form with staff and one another”.

Kathleen said: “I’m absolutely delighted that the dedication of the nursery team has been recognised in our first Ofsted report.

“We will continue striving to ensure that we are constantly providing the best learning environment for the children in our care and seek to further enhance the nursery as we move forward.”
