Owner of La Luna di Luca Jamal Kaddouri said: "Locals know we’re a dog friendly restaurant and we often see extra portions ordered for customer’s dogs, it seemed like a no-brainer to offer our Deliveroo customers something special to treat their pets at home."

A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: "It is great that restaurants and other establishments are becoming more dog-friendly and catering for our canine companions and their owners.

"It is important to remember that dogs need a well-balanced diet to keep them healthy and most human meals will not provide dogs with the nutrition they need.

"The wrong diet can also lead to obesity and other health problems.

"Some human foods, such as onions, can be poisonous to dogs and the feeding of bones, especially small cooked sharp or splintered bones, to dogs can damage their teeth or obstruct or perforate the intestine.

"There are lots of delicious and healthy treats owners can give their dogs - they just need to ensure that anything they feed their dog is safe for them to eat.

"If owners are concerned that their pet has come into contact with anything that could be hazardous, they should seek immediate veterinary advice."

A Battersea Dogs and Cats Home spokesperson: "We’re a nation of animal lovers and it’s lovely to see that more and more restaurants and organisations are becoming dog-friendly.

"However, it’s worth bearing in mind that a lot of human foods – such as raisins, chocolates, garlic and onions – can be toxic to dogs."
