The culinary team behind an award-winning restaurant in the city have hooked up with an MBE rugby star to launch a new bar and grill in Twickenham.

Martin Williams and executive chef Michael Reid who opened their acclaimed multi-faceted M venues on Threadneedle street and Victoria street are introducing their M brand to Brewery Wharf – opposite the station – on September 11.

The M Bar and Grill will overlook the river crane and combine the spirit and accessibility of your favourite gastro pub service with the style, quality and heightened hospitality that M has become associated with.

The executive chef, who has starred in BBC’s ‘Great British Menu’ and more recently appeared on Celebrity Master Chef, said: “M Bar & Grill is our take on a modern day drinking and dining hangout – all the best bits of the British pub we love so much but with our usual M style and quality of offering.

“We want M Bar & Grill to become the heart of the community, as we have done in the City and Victoria with our flagship offerings – and for me, food is at the heart of all communities.

“The menu in Twickenham is a very modern, very British aspirational, yet accessible, offering.”

The grill menu has a playful take on pub classics from the chef’s childhood – giving them a signature M flavour such as ‘posh beef quavers’, ‘welsh rarebit fondu’, ‘the veggie or meat paffle’ and ‘chicken or the egg.’

Also giving a special nod to the ‘great grills of the 70s’ – the beef on the menu has been specially selected mainly from the O’Shea family farm in Scotland – known as the eighth generation of butchers and according to the dynamic restaurant duo produce ‘the finest beef in the U.K’.

Meat lovers will get the chance to try out medallion fillets, the wagu rib-eye, the tomahawkm rare breed and many other traditional cuts.

Dressing up the more classic pub grub with the M signature twist the menu also features dishes such as a ‘burrata courgette flower’ which has been pickled, the heritage beetroots dish with goat’s gurd and the smoked cauliflower option with hummus and crème fraiche.

Created in partnership with ‘Sporting Wine Club’ – who supports sports charities across the UK, the bar’s extensive wine list will tickle everyone’s taste buds with 20 wines by the glass, four of which are ‘on tap’ and a further eight premium wines dispensed from M’s state of the art ‘electronic tasting machine’.

The wine menu is complimented by a modern British cocktail list and a range of beers by bottle and tap, including local brewers, Wimbledon Brewery’s ‘Copper Red Ale’ and Twickenham Fine Ales’ ‘Grandstand’ Bitter.

At weekends, M Bar & Grill offers a brunch menu that covers both saintly and sinful options and Sundays will see M Grill serve up one of the finest traditional Sunday Roasts available in Greater London, including Mike Reid’s iconic Highland Wagyu Roast Beef.

Residents in Twickenham will also be delighted to discover that they won’t even have to move from their couch for a taste of the restaurants gourmet meals and tipples as M Twickenham is working with the VIVA app to provide room service and home deliveries in Twickenham.

On international match days at Twickenham, the restaurant and bar will see a rugby take-over as Shaw, who has starred in three Lion tours and three World Cup Campaigns including the victorious 2003 World Cup and 1997 Lions series hosts an exclusive unique hospitality experience with special guests.

Guests will be treated to a ‘Meet and Greet’ champagne reception followed by lunch with the legends with a pre-match ‘Q and A’ followed by a post-match ‘de-brief’ with the players over Wagyu pies and cocktails.
