It's official, women spend more of their life sick than men. At least that's the case in Croydon.

A new map released alongside London Mayor Sadiq Khan's draft Health Inequality Strategy showcases the gender divide when it comes to living and living well.

Croydon women are expected to live three years longer than their male counterparts, with an average life expectancy of 83.4 years for women and 80.4 for men.

That extra time living almost exclusively will be spent in ill health however.

Shockingly, 19.6 years of a Croydon woman's life will be spent sick. That's almost quarter of the time.

In contrast, Croydon men will be subject to just 17.3 years sick, slightly more than 21 per cent of their lives.

To make matters worse for Croydon residents, just a stones throw away in Bromley, men and women are spending five fewer years of their lives sick.
