It was another year of exceptional results A-Level results day in Epsom, with many students achieving outstanding grades to secure top university places.

At Epsom College, in College Road, students enjoyed a record year of A-Level results with 86 per cent awarded A* to B grades, which is higher than any previous year at the college.

Eva Smiley earned two A* grades, in economics and mathematics, and a D1, judged by most to be higher than an A*, in her pre-university Mandarin and will take up a place at Oxford University to read economics and management.

Meanwhile, City of London Freemen’s School in Ashtead recorded some of its best A-Level results in the last six years.

Thirty-one percent of its grades were A*, a nine percent increase on last year’s results, and 64 percent of grades achieved were A* and A, which is both eight percent more than last year but also a nine percent increase from the AS Level results in the same cohort achieved last year.

At Blenheim High School, in Longmead Road, 21 per cent of students gained an A* or A, with 51 perc ent achieving an A* to B, 91 per cent achieving an A* to C and almost 100 per cent of students passing their exams with an A to E result.

Among the successes are Sabrina Hallier who got the two A*s and two As needed to study psychology at St Andrew’s and Mark Bumstead, who gained two A*s and an A, is off to UCL to study biochemistry.

At Ewell Castle, in Church Street, students achieved a 98 percent pass rate at A-Level, with many students achieving their first-choice university.

Olin Robinson achieved two A* grades, an A and two As at AS Level, and will now study physics with theoretical physics at Russell Group university Imperial College London, with other successful students including Jacob Malpas, who will read history at University College London nd Sara Sava as she goes to the University of Surrey to study modern languages (French and Spanish).

Rosenbery School, in White House Drive, has seen a rise in the number of students gaining the top grades, with 34 percent achieving As and A*s and 24 students gaining A* and A grades in every one of their exams.

Overall, 80 percent of students achieved A* to C grades and all university applicants have been successful in winning places on their degree courses of choice, including 3 students who will be heading to Oxford and Cambridge universities.
