A man has been arrested after police were called to reports of a group of men forcing entry to a property in Sutton in the early hours of this morning (August 18).

Officers were contacted about the incident on Erskine Road at 1.12am on Friday, August 18.

A Met police spokesman said: “A man was arrested in the area on suspicion of burglary and going equipped to steal.

“A quantity of cannabis was seized from the property. A man was further arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.”

Police said a number of suspects remain outstanding and enquiries are ongoing.

One man who lives on the road described hearing a “loud bang” in the early hours of the morning.

He went to his window where he saw police cars along the street.

According to the man, police remained present at the scene as of 10.30am today.
