A crowdfunding page has been set up to fund Barnes’ Christmas lights this year.

Richmond Council will pledge £2,750 to the campaign with an additional £1,000 from the Barnes Community Association (BCA).

The website says: “Christmas is a very special time in Barnes when sparkling lights transform our shopping areas, families enjoy the festive atmosphere and local businesses stay open late.

“But Christmas lights cost money.

“The BCA is running a community campaign and is asking every household in Barnes to donate just a few pounds so that we can keep our shopping parades lit all over the festive period.”

At the time of publishing, £745 of the £6,000 fundraising target has been raised.
