Sutton Police have issued another warning to residents in the borough after reporting a rise in vehicle thefts.

They urged drivers to undertake all necessary measures to ensure their vehicles have the least possible chance of being robbed.

A statement said: “In the last few months there has been an increase in theft of cars and vans in Sutton Borough. We are advising residents to ensure that when using remote devices to lock your car, you should physically check that the car is locked and all windows are closed.

“Whilst theft of motor vehicle techniques have got more sophisticated over the years, one of the best methods to secure your car is to get a steering wheel lock which will provide a physical deterrent to thieves.”
