If you want to improve your skills, meet new people or simply do something for the community, there are several volunteering opportunities listed by Elmbridge Volunteer Centre for the Autumn.

• Drivers are needed to help provide transport for people who find it difficult to get to medical appointments. You must have access to a car.

• A hospice is looking for enthusiastic, friendly and organised people who want to be trained in the kitchen and on tills. There is a commitment of one session per week.

• There is an opportunity to help run group activities for people with Parkinson’s disease on Mondays

• Parents, carers and grandparents are needed to help families with a wide variety of problems during home visits. Training starts in September.

• A community allotment requires keen gardeners as well as amateurs to get involved. Drop-in sessions are Tuesdays at 10.30am to 3.30pm, and Saturdays 2pm to 5pm.

To book an appointment at an outreach point (which are in Esher, Thames Ditton, Walton and Weybridge), call 01372 463587 or visit vae.org.uk.
