As Wayne Woodward said himself, it’s been a “hectic” time for the charismatic swing artist.

“I am finding my feet with parenthood,” he told the Sutton Guardian. “It’s been absolutely lovely. My son Frankie J. Woodward just eats and sleeps. He’s the perfect boy. I’m blessed.”

Not only has Wayne recently become a father, the former runner up of Britain’s Got Talent has just released his debut album N.U.M.B.

After performing in front of millions of viewers on live TV, Wayne returned to playing in local venues as soon as the show came to an end.

“It’s scary because you gotta halt your expectations,” was his candid response when asked about this.

He added: “When you’re singing in a pub, restaurant, city hall or wedding it doesn’t have the same production as Britain’s Got Talent. You won’t get the same show but that doesn’t mean I don’t give them a party to remember.”

The last part fittingly sums up Wayne’s mind-set.

Later in the interview, he said: “Whether or not I’m famous on a massive scale means nothing to me as long as I can make a living from singing it’s already a dream come true in my eyes.”

Despite being grateful of his current status in the unforgiving world of popular culture, Wayne is as ambitious as any other young performer.

He said: “I would like to get to Vegas or New York. I refuse to go out there for a holiday, only for work. My mum and dad say why don’t we go out there for my next birthday – I won’t go out there until I’m invited.

“That’s my goal.”

It was also clear that Wayne won’t stop trying to achieve more success.

“Michael Bublé was singing in bars for nine years before he was famous. I’m not going to stop. No matter how sales do I will be releasing albums for years to come.”

If Wayne does end up performing under the bright lights of Vegas or stepping onto the Madison Square Garden stage, it’s unlikely he will forget where he comes from.

“I’m still a Sutton boy,” he said.

“The support from people here has been absolutely massive. There’s a few clubs that I played in before Britain’s Got Talent. If it wasn’t for these people that voted I wouldn’t be where I am today. I enjoy going back to the clubs and giving them a night of entertainment.

“It’s amazing how many people turn up. It’s sometimes the most money they will make in months. I haven’t seen clubs or pubs that busy since I was a little boy. It was nice to make that happen again. That’s just my little bit of helping the community.”

New album N.U.M.B (Never Underestimate Me Babe) is a collection of the first records Wayne ever wrote. He is already eager for people to hear the next one.

“The new stuff will raise the bar massively. I’m already four tracks in and my song writing has come on leaps and bounds.

“I want to say a massive thanks to everyone who has already bought it (N.U.M.B) and I’m glad they like it.”
