A free drawing and storytelling workshop is coming to Waterstones on Sutton High Street this week.

Zehra Hicks, author-illustrator, will be reading and signing copies of ‘Giraffe and Frog,’ her new picture book, on Thursday August 10 at 10am.

‘Giraffe and Frog,’ tells the tale of a giraffe who won’t listen to his friend, Frog as they try to go the beach on an adventure.

Puppetry and comic strips are both used to allow children to become involved in the story.

Zehra Hicks said: “I believe in inspiring children to learn through books and explore ideas through words, drawing, storytelling and humour and to feel confident and passionate about developing ideas into stories.”

Her sessions last 45-60 minutes and ‘Giraffe and Frog’ is Zehra’s fifth picture book.

Mum of two, Zehra, was originally an artist and designer before becoming an author-illustrator.

She regularly visits schools around the UK giving workshops to help children develop their storytelling and literally skills through drawing.

Zehra is also the author-illustrator of ‘All Mine’ which was nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal.
