Potentially life-saving braking technology is being demonstrated at the Brooklands motor circuit in Weybridge.
Continental Tyres and Mercedes-Benz World, based at the circuit, is offering demonstrations of Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) systems until August 13.
AEB helps to avoid accidents by identifying critical situations early and automatically braking in time, or lowering the speed of collision.
Research has found that AEB technology could lead to a 38 per cent reduction in rear-end crashes and has the potential to save 1,100 lives in the next ten years.
Mark Griffiths, safety expert at Continental Tyres, said: “With demonstrations such as these, and our previous winter tyre tests at Mercedes-Benz World, we hope to educate people about the potential of using automotive technology to improve safety and possibly save lives, coupled with tyres that are above the legal tread depth and correctly inflated.
“These free driving experiences further support our ‘Vision Zero’, a global initiative that aims to reduce road accidents worldwide through improved driver education and enhanced automotive safety systems.”
Sessions last 20 minutes and there is no need to book; just turn up between 11am and 1pm.
