Police are appealing for witnesses following the stabbing of a teenager.

On Thursday, June 22 police were called at around 4.45pm to a report of a man injured in Courtland Avenue, SW16.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and found an 18-year-old man suffering stab wounds.

The victim was taken to a south London hospital and treated for stab wounds to his back, hand and arm. Although the victim required surgery for his injuries, he has now been discharged.

Detectives from Croydon CID are investigating.

It is believed the victim was approached by four men in Norbury Park, and assaulted and stabbed in an unprovoked attack.

One of the suspects was armed with a suspected handgun which he used to hit the victim.

Three of the suspects are described as black, with two aged in their late teens.

Detective Inspector David Willis, from Croydon CID, said: "this appears to have been a totally unprovoked attack. While attacks like this are thankfully rare, they are devastating to the victims and the consequences can be terrible.

“I would urge anyone who has any information to contact police; your call could prevent another attack or even save a life. We are determined to bring those responsible to justice and we asking the community to do all they can to assist us."
