An award-winning broadcaster will judge budding writers’ entries for a competition to have their short story published in the raceday programme at Epsom Downs Racecourse.

Clare Balding OBE will judge the creative writing competition – which is open to children aged between eight and 16 – ahead of the racecourse’s Superheroes Return Family Day on Monday, August 28.

The winner will get to meet Mrs Balding and also have their story printed in the raceday programme and the Epsom Guardian. They will also receive a gift voucher.

Stories should be no more than 250 words and must mention a horse, jockey, superpower(s) and Epsom Downs Racecourse. Entries should also include the author’s name and age, as well as a parent or guardian’s telephone number, email address and home address.

To enter, email epsom.marketing@thejockeyclub.co.uk with the subject line CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION or to Creative Writing Competition, Epsom Downs Racecourse, Epsom Downs, Surrey, KT18 5LQ, by Monday, August 14.

All entries will be eligible to purchase two tickets at half the gate price for the Superheroes’ Return Family Fun Day. Under 18’s go free.
