Construction is underway to improve Better Sutton Sports Village’s gym and studio spaces.

£350,000 worth of development works will see the two-storey gym expanded with the lower floor becoming a more spacious area for strength and functional workouts.

The gym will stay open while construction takes place with work set to be completed by the end of this month.

An upper floor studio is being converted to extend the existing cardiovascular area.

UK leisure charitable social enterprise GLL acquired the community sports and activity centre in 2016.

The centre is now operated under its customer brand name, Better.

Simon Sen, Regional Director of GLL, said: “Since the acquisition of the centre last year, we have committed to maximising the potential of a facility that has been a key part of the community for many years. This improvement programme allows us to better utilise the available space by reconfiguring areas of the building to accommodate even more market-leading equipment, allowing more people to be more active more often.

“The gym at Sutton Sports Village remains open and the team have strived to keep disruption to a minimum during this time. We thank our members for their patience during these works and look forward to welcoming both new and existing customers to our new and improved centre.”
