The best GP surgeries in Croydon have now been named.

The GP Patient Survey is an annual England-wide survey that gathers data on patients’ experiences of their GP surgeries.

19,334 questionnaires were sent out with nearly 6000 surveys returned completed.

The data comprised of a range of sections, from access to GP services to the ability to make an appointment.

One of the most telling statistic of all was the overall experience patients felt at the surgeries.

Although the top ten surgeries all received scores that were higher than the national average, there could only be one winner.

On this occasion, the title went to Downland Surgery which saw 97 per cent of respondents say they had a 'good' experience at the GP.

"It's a small surgery with very personal service," newly appointed senior partner at the Downland Surgery Dr Alex Trompetas said.

"We have a lot of confidence in the doctors and all of the staff."

Dr Trompetas was quick to recognise the hard work done by a former general practitioner.

"The doctor to whom these figures do credit is Dr Chitkara," he said.

"Dr Chitkara was the general practitioner until a month ago so I can’t take credit for the good work that's been done here."
