A great-great-grandmother is aiming to commemorate her 90th birthday by skydiving 13,000ft to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Amy Cook, who is from Kingston, will complete the sky dive in Sailsbury on Sunday July 30.

She said: “I have always wanted to do a sky dive but my husband didn’t like heights so I never bought it up because I didn’t want him to worry.

“My grandson, Tom, did a parachute jump for his 30th birthday last year which gave me the idea. It’s my last chance to do it and is a great way to thank The Royal Marsden for taking care of my daughter Jane.”

Her daughter Jane Fuller, 56, was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago and underwent surgery and radiotherapy treatment at The Royal Marsden.

Jane, who is from Worcester Park in Sutton, said: “I wasn’t pleased when I found out about what she was planning to do but it’s wonderful to raise money for such a worthy cause.

“The Royal Marsden staff have been wonderful to me and I cannot fault the care I’ve received.”

Thrill seeker Amy has three children, eight grandchildren, 11 great-children and one great-great-grandchild.
