An organic food company is delivering leftover food boxes to a Richmond hostel for the homeless.

Riverfood, who deliver fresh fruit and vegetable boxes to homes across the UK, are supporting the SPEAR hostel, on Heath road, by delivering any leftover boxes each day.

The initiative is to help the residents start to learn how to lead independently by creating fresh, nutritious meals and keep food wastage to a minimum.

Heidi Shrimpton, from SPEAR said “We are delighted to receive the donation boxes from Riverford.

"Life on the street can be detrimental to all aspects of our clients’ health and wellbeing and learning how to make affordable healthy meals is invaluable to their recovery.”

SPEAR is a homeless charity which has been helping and supporting people of all backgrounds for 30 years.

Riverford are also supporting SPEAR’s 30th celebrations at Richmond Adult Community College, this month, by donating organic raffle prizes.
