Sporting teams of Richmond's young sporting stars are celebrating after grabbing third place in the London Youth Games 2017.

After nine months of competitions, 28 top ten finishes. hundreds of local athletes, from schools and local communities, helped Team Richmond collect 1133 points to take home bronze at the finals, on July 10, at Crystal Palace.

The London Youth Games is the largest youth sports festival in Europe and saw more than 140 participants from 22 schools within the borough compete across 30 different sports.

Particular highlights included the aquathlon squad winning gold overall, the girls hockey and boys swimming squad winning overall silver and the girls athletics squad who claimed bronze.

Other notable performances included girls basketball finishing fourth, archery fourth, indoor rowing and boys hockey seventh and girls football ninth.

From the first event of the season back in November through to the finals in July, Team Richmond secured nine podium finishes as well as a host of individual medals.
