British sprint athlete Nigel Levine will be making a special guest appearance at the Get Active Wandsworth Festival this Saturday.

A double Olympian- London 2012 semi-finalist and 2013 double European medallist- and Commonwealth relay gold medallist while also six-time National Indoor Champion, Nigel will be at the festival from 1.30pm to 3pm and presenting awards to young borough athletes.

Nigel said he was “really looking forward” to the day.

He said: “I’m especially looking forward to seeing the pop-up track and checking out the sporting talent in Wandsworth.”

The impressive athlete is representing Team Personal Best, the official inspiration programme for the World Para Athletics Championships and the IAAF World Championships.

The council’s leisure spokesman Councillor Jonathan Cook said: “The Get Active Festival is always a popular day out, and is a great chance to find out what sports activities are available locally.

“I hope people will come along and get inspired to lead healthier and more active lives.”

The free event, taking place on Saturday, July 15, will include sports activities, taster sessions, advice tents, food and drink and guest presenters to get everyone ready to move toward a healthier lifestyle.

There is no need to book- just turn up.
