Firefighters warned drivers to take care on the roads in newly slippery conditions after “a few” crashes in Surrey last night.

A car was crashed into a lamppost in Epsom Lane North and then a lady was freed from her car after crashing into a tree in Christchurch Road, Epsom last night.

The driver in Epsom Lane North was uninjured, a Surrey Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said.

But firefighters had to free a driver who crashed in Christchurch Road just before 8.50pm, before paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) arrived.

The woman’s condition is not yet known. SECAmb has been contacted for comment.

The crew had earlier been called to Epsom Lane North at 7.58pm after a car was crashed into a lamppost. The driver and passengers were unhurt, a spokesman from Epsom fire station said.

“People need to mindful of these dangerous conditions following the first rains after a dry spell,” he added.

“People need to realise road conditions are changing.

“I think around the county there were a few RTCs (road traffic collisions) last night.”
