Everyone is welcome to experience a taste of Venezuela, with distinctive foods, drinks and dancing, when La Fiesta de San Juan comes to AFC Wimbledon’s Kingsmeadow tomorrow evening (June 24).

The charity event is a party celebration on the day of the patron Saint of Venezuela, St John, that brings the vibrant culture of Venezuela to the capital.

If you want to dance then you can listen to the beats of ‘tambores’ or the interesting mix of Latin American and African drumming, or try out a selection of dishes that include corn bread, shredded beef, black beans and empanadas.

Residents will also be treated to a special guest appearance from DJ Carlitos Nunez, a well-known artist in London’s Latin American scene.

Funds raised from the night will go towards two charities who are dedicated to sending medical resources to Venezuela in light of recent events.

A UK registered charity that has partnered with a Caracas-based children’s hospital, JM de los Rios, Healing Venezuela will send a range of amenities that includes baby food, nappies and medical equipment with help from UK hospitals, GPs and health centres.

Programa de Ayuda Humanitaria para Venezuela is a US registered charity with a worldwide reach that provides medicines to over 80 NGOs in Venezuela through individual donations.

The two charities will work in collaboration with one another to raise awareness and the funds required to cover transport costs of these donations.

The event will begin at 5:30pm. Visit www.liqui-liqui.com/events to buy tickets or turn up at the door.
