A high number of complaints about the severe congestion that builds up at a junction in Hampton has prompted the council to take action.
Two solutions have been proposed by the council to reduce the traffic which builds up from vehicles waiting to turn right into Uxbridge Road from Hanworth Road in Hampton.
Due to the restricted width of the road approaching the junction, the vehicles waiting to turn hold up left turning vehicles behind them – which causes the congestion and subsequent pollution.
Richmond council are asking residents for their views on whether they should increase the width of the road to enable an extra lane on the approach to Uxbridge road.
The other option is to still introduce an extra lane but at a slightly shorter length to create space for a dedicated right turn lane on Uxbridge Road.
