Police have arrested a man on suspicion of indecent exposure and attempted rape after reports of two separate attacks in Ewell.

The attacks are both said to have taken place in and around the tunnel that links Meadow Walk and Kingston Road on separate occasions just over three months apart.

Two teenage girls were walking along the path from Station Avenue, Ewell, towards Meadow Walk at about 4.10pm on Friday (June 16) when it is alleged they were passed by a man who had emerged from some bushes. When they arrived at the tunnel that links the path to Kingston Road, Surrey Police say the same man appeared from the tunnel and exposed himself to them.

Surrey Police had appealed for information about a separate attack at about 4.30pm on May 24, when a man loitering around the tunnel grabbed a girl and tried to sexually assault her.

A man has since been arrested on suspicion of both attacks, a spokesman for the force stated.

Inspector Jackie Elkins, Neighbourhood Inspector for Epsom and Ewell said: "Indecent exposure is a serious offence, but it is also an offence that, for whatever reason, may not always be reported.

"I want anyone who has been a victim of indecent exposure to know that we do take it seriously, we do investigate, we do make arrests when we can and we do offer support.

Surrey Police’s investigation continues.
