A reward has been put up to find a man who put his life at risk and cause a train driver to suffer psychological trauma when he jumped across a level crossing in Richmond last month.

Crimestoppers are offering a reward of up to £2,000 to identify the man,who forced his way between the barriers at North Sheen level crossing, on Manor Road, seconds before a train sped past on May 11.

Witnesses, including schoolchildren with their parents and commuters, claimed he was being ‘aggressive’ and wore a cap, pair of shorts and puffa jacket as he lifted his mountain bike over the fence.

Dave Hunter, Crimestoppers’ Head of Operations, said: “This man could have caused himself serious injury or even death - his actions were incredibly dangerous.

“Someone will know who he is and we hope they will see that there is no excuse for this behaviour.

“The barriers are there for a very good reason.”

The independent charity are asking for anyone who can offer a lead to help identify the man who refused to wait for the train to pass before crossing.

“Anyone who knows who this man is should contact us in on 0800 555 111 or use our non-traceable secure online form,” added Mr Hunter.

“You will remain 100% anonymous - we won’t ask for your personal details - you won’t have to give a statement to police or appear in court. We just need to know this man’s name.”
