Croydon-based Mortgage Brain has raised over £50,000 for nine charities.

The list includes St Raphael’s Hospice in Sutton, Shooting Star Children’s Hospice in Surrey and the London & the South region of Contact the Elderly, Young Dementia and the Alzheimer’s Society.

The company, which has had an office in Croydon since 1986, recently hosted an evening of entertainment and glamour to celebrate its 30th Birthday and used the event to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

The celebration, which took place at the Hilton Bankside in London and included a champagne reception, three course meal and a live band, was attended by leading figures from the UK mortgage and financial services industry.

Through sponsorship, table donations and ‘silent’ auctions, £50,814 was raised, which is being divided among Mortgage Brain’s nominated charities; the Alzheimer’s Society, Birmingham Christmas Shelter, Contact the Elderly, MDS UK Patient Support Group, St Raphael’s Hospice, Shooting Star Children’s Hospice, Compassion International and Haiti Orphanage Project Espwa.

Mortgage Brain’s CEO Mark Lofthouse was “absolutely delighted” with the generosity.

“Reaching our 30th Birthday is a significant achievement and as well as giving us the opportunity to celebrate with friends, colleagues and associates, we saw the event as the perfect opportunity to help raise much needed funds for several great causes,” he said.

“I’d like to extend our thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years, everyone who supported the charities and to all those who were involved in bringing the event together.”
