A man who died after being stabbed in Charlton has been named as 30-year-old Adam Chambers.

Police were called at 5.45pm on June 13 to reports of a man stabbed a man stabbed behind Phipps House, which is located off Woolwich Road in Charlton

Officers, London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance found Mr Chambers suffering from stab wounds.

They fought to save his life but he was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.30pm.

A post-mortem examination held on 14 June at Greenwich Mortuary gave cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.

Tributes to Mr Chambers have been left on Facebook.

Tanya Williams wrote: “RIP Adam so sad to hear this news thinking of your family and friends.”

Marge Hawkins wrote: “Really liked that chap will miss his friendly smile and wave R I P Dear Adam.”

Carly Martenstyn wrote: “You may have been taken too soon and in a cruel way but none of us are gonna ever forget you RIP Adam Chambers I promise I will do my best to take care and be there for the family.”

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Watling, the officer leading the investigation, said: "I want to trace two men who were seen near to the location before they made off on foot towards Troughton Road.

"They are both described as black men, aged around 20 years. One man was taller than the other, and both were wearing dark clothing.

"I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist the investigation, to call police."

There have been no arrests and police enquiries continue.
