The OnBlackheath festival has announced the line-up for its food and children programmes on top of the already planned musical performances.

Headlined by Travis and The Libertines, the festival has more than just music lined up for the September weekend.

Masterchef finalist Tony Rodd and winner of MasterChef: The Professionals last year Gary Maclean are amongst the famous guests for the food part of the festival on September 9 and 10.

The John Lewis Food Village will also be home to award-winning street food, pop-up restaurants and the local Meantime Craft Brewery Bar for visitors to tuck into between musical performances.

As part of the children’s programme, Children’s Laureate novelist, poet and author of the enduring classic We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, Michael Wayne Rosen will be present, as will Comedian and writer Julian Clary, reading excerpts from his best-selling children’s book series “The Bolds”.

They will be joining the festival’s classic Village Green Sports Day with egg and spoon races, three-legged races and tug-of-war, along with all sorts of other workshops and adventures for children.

As for musical performances, on top of Travis and The Libertines, other confirmed acts so far include Metronomy, De La Soul, Seasick Steve, Jake Bugg, Kate Tempest and KT Tunstall.

Tom Wates, co-founder of OnBlackheath, said: “OnBlackheath is about music, food and family entertainment which is why we have such a vast programme dedicated to children.

“We all have kids of our own so we always want to make sure the children are having as much fun as our older guests and make the children’s area as entertaining and fun-filled as possible for the whole family.”
