What would be your ultimate graduate job? How about having a £10,000 paid trip around the world for when you leave college?

That’s what this graduate from Ravensbourne college in Greenwich is doing after he won a travel competition.

Joe Thompson entered a competition on Compare the Market, a price comparison website, to become the site’s travel advisor.

The job was to travel the world capturing videos, taking photos and writing blogs of his adventures.

Joe received almost 4,000 votes to beat the rest of the competition and now can start his £10,000 journey.

The funds pay for one round the world ticket, accommodation at each stop, excursions and adventure activities, and travel insurance throughout.

Joe said: “Not only will it be an amazing trip, it will set up my career as a travel and landscape photographer after Uni and improve my portfolio immensely.

“I would love to go to South America, specifically Patagonia. I would also like to visit Iceland and Norway, as well as some areas of Asia.”

In addition, Joe has also secured £5,000 for his student union at Ravensbourne.

Stefan Joshua Ferrol, union president at Ravensbourne, said “We here at Ravensbourne Students' Union are thrilled that Joe has won.

“His work is outstanding and this truly is an opportunity of a life time. He really has shown that amazing things happen here at Ravensbourne and we wish him in all the best on his travels.

“The £5000 will go a long way in helping more students undertake projects that will hopefully open many doors for them. Congrats Joe and good luck.”

Joe said: “The £5,000 will be put to good use at my universities SU, who have done a fantastic job in looking after us during our time at Ravensbourne.”
