These are the restaurants and other food outlets that have been given the lowest food hygiene ratings in the Bexley borough.

Our gallery above shows one place to eat that has been given zero stars, the worst possible score, meaning urgent improvement is needed.

There are also 27 more takeaways, cafes, shops and other premises including a pub and two care homes where food is served or made that have been awarded just one star, signifying major improvement is necessary.

The details, correct as of today (June 7), have all been published on the government’s Food Standards Agency website.

The ratings have been given to businesses to reflect the standards of food hygiene found when they were inspected by food safety officers from Bexley Council over the past few months.

Inspectors check the following three elements:

1. How hygienically the food is handled – how it is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored

2. The condition of the structure of the buildings – the cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation and other facilities

3. How the business manages what it does to make sure food is safe and so that the officer can be confident standards will be maintained in the future

All the businesses featured in this article have been inspected between November 2016 and May. We have omitted any that have been re-inspected and are due to have a new score published.

As all the details are current at the time of publication, we will not amend or remove anything. However, we will update this page with any responses from the businesses explaining why they got a low score and what they’ve done to fix the problems.
