Three fascinating videos here show south-east Londoners at election time in years gone by.
The first clip shows a by-election in Erith back in 1965.
It features candidates knocking on doors and canvassing, concluding with a speech from Labour’s winning candidate Jim Wellbeloved who surely had one of the best ever names in politics.
The second video features a general election campaign rally from 1974 attended by the Labour leader Harold Wilson who was in opposition at the time.
Finally, we rewind even further back to 70 years ago.
A video called Britain's Little Election Week shows how Bromley residents went to the polls in 1947.
It shows posters on display as well as people going into their polling station to vote in local council elections.
All these videos are from the British Pathe archive on YouTube.
