UPDATE: Arrest made in connection with sexual assaults in Clapham and Battersea

Police have released CCTV of a man they believe is responsible for two sexual assaults.

A woman, aged in her 40s, was sexually assaulted by man in Clapham Common North Side on Thursday, May 11 at around 4am.

After the attack, the man walked towards the Common. Detectives believe he followed the victim when she walked from Clapham Junction.

Another, aged in her mid-20s, was sexually assaulted outside a block of flats just after 11pm on Tuesday, May 16.

Police believe the man followed the woman when she left Clapham Junction Station. It is believed he made off during the assault after being disturbed by a neighbour.

The suspect is described as a black male, aged in his late teens to early 20s. He was wearing a hooded top.

On the morning of May 11 at around 2.30am, a woman called police to report she was being followed by a man in Battersea High Street. Detectives believe it may have been the same man.

Detective Constable David Musselwhite, from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, said: “I am asking for the public's help to identify this man that was captured on CCTV near to the scene of the attack.

“It is really important that we speak to him.

“Earlier in the morning on Thursday, 11 May, we are investigating if he was in Battersea High Street following another woman. She was not attacked.

"From about 3:30am that morning the man is seen to follow the woman from Clapham Junction. He may have spent some time in this area prior to this.

“Were you out in Battersea or Clapham that night, into the early hours, and saw a man fitting this description? Have you seen him or do you know who he is?"
