A thief threatened a shop owner with a knife before reportedly riding off on a moped with two bottles of vodka, worth an estimated £30.

The owner of the store in Stoneleigh Broadway was left “very shaken” but otherwise unharmed after the robbery on Friday (May 12).

The passenger of a three-wheeled moped came into the store at about 9.30pm, threatened the owner with a knife for the till keys, before leaving with the alcohol, Surrey Police stated.

The force believes the moped’s driver rode away up Woodstone Avenue after the robbery.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately five foot one inches tall to five foot three inches tall, between 17 and 18 years old, of medium build with brown eyes and possibly short brown hair. He was wearing a black helmet with a white design on the sides, a black top, blue trousers and white trainers. He was also wearing a rucksack.

Assisting Officer PC Will Cottee said “Although the shop owner didn’t receive any injuries in this robbery it was quite a distressing experience for him, which has left him very shaken. We are desperate to trace anyone who may have information on the bike, the riders or anyone who was in the Broadway at that time.”
