Commuters through South Croydon were disrupted this morning as a broken down train stopped working on the tracks.
Southern Rail has apologised for the delays that saw passengers stuck at the various trains stations between South Croydon and Purley Oaks, for more than 15 minutes.
Angry commuters tweeted:
@SouthernRailUK I'm not even at east Croydon yet. I've lost more than an hour at work which I'll need to make up this evening meaning no time with my child

@SouthernRailUK what are you planning to do about the 10000 just abandoned and stranded at South Croydon? Ridiculous!

Problems in Norwood Junction also halted journeys due to trapped trains at Selhurst Depot.
A statement on Southern website read: “This train has now been removed and services will be delayed by up to 15 mins and may be subject to alteration and cancellation. Please accept our apologies for this dealy to your journey today.”
Trains services were affected until 9am.
