The Coptic Pope held a service at a Coulsdon church this morning as part of a pastoral visit to the UK.

Pope Tawadros II of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria went to St Mary and St Shenouda’s Church on Tuesday, May 9, during his first visit to the United Kingdom.

The visit to the church in Rickman Hill was kept under wraps due to fears of repeats of the attacks on two Coptic churches in Egypt whick killed 45 people on Palm Sunday this year, a source told the Epsom Guardian.

The Coptic church has ancient Christian roots in Egypt. Pope Tawadros II is its 118th faith leader.
