Police are appealing for witnesses and information after an elderly man was hit by a car in Tooting.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said they were called at around 11.30am on Thursday (May 4) to Garrett Lane to reports of a Volkswagen Touran in collision with a pedestrian.

London Ambulance Service attended.

The 78-year-old male pedestrian was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The driver stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made.

Detectives from the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating and would like to speak with anyone who saw the Volkswagen turning right from Tooting High Street into Garrett Lane where the incident happened.
