With the general election fast approaching we have done a round-up of Wandsworth's parliamentary candidates.

Here is a taster of their plans for the borough.

Battersea:

Jane Ellison- Conservative

"Since 2010, I have responded to over 20,000 constituents on a wide range of issues; if I am re-elected as Battersea’s MP here are some of the things I will focus on. On Brexit, I take a practical approach - I campaigned hard for Remain, but I accept the national result.

"Now I want to get the best deal for everyone in our area, however they voted. Children’s health is also a priority for me; I’ve spearheaded new laws on Female Genital Mutilation and tackling smoking and childhood obesity. And as President of Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce, I will continue to champion our local job creators."

Richard Davis- Liberal Democrats

"I am the only candidate in Battersea who opposes the Tories' hard Brexit. I have been involved in the community here in Battersea, Balham and Wandsworth for years and have had thousands of conversations with people who live here.

"I understand the reason we voted to Remain by 75 per cent, because many of us have friends, family and colleagues who will be directly affected by leaving. This is why a vote for the Lib Dems is the only vote to guarantee the UK remains in the single market and maintains the rights of EU nationals living and working here."

Lois Davis- Green

"I will be making the supply of affordable housing a key campaign priority.

"Here in Battersea we have the scandalous 9 Elms development: multi-million pound flats that are nothing more than safe deposit boxes in the sky.

"What matters for us is pushing for housing policies that mean building homes for people not profit and making renting a secure and viable option for all those on low and variable incomes who daren’t even dream of home ownership."

Marsha de Cordova- Labour

"Battersea has a proud history and I am honoured to be the Labour Party’s candidate here in the election. I voted to remain in the EU and will fight against a Tory 'Hard Brexit'.

"We must retain access to the single market, preserve workers’ rights and guarantee the rights of EU citizens.

"I will work to get more homes and better rent levels in our area and fight the cuts to our schools. I want a future that offers hope and opportunity for the younger generations that will call Battersea their home."

Tooting:

Dr Rosena Allin-Khan- Labour

"I’ve been a champion for Tooting locally and in Parliament. As promised last year, I listened to residents who voted overwhelmingly to remain in the EU and voted against triggering article 50.

"Only I will stand up against Theresa May’s hard Brexit that jeopardises Tooting’s jobs and economy and makes so many of our EU friends and neighbours feel unwelcome.

"I shall continue to defend Wandsworth schools from savage cuts, protect St George’s from drastic underfunding and build on my new "Take One" apprenticeship scheme, working with local businesses to ensure all young people have the full chance to fulfil their potential."

Alex Glassbrook- Liberal Democrats

"The Conservatives have created an expensive, ugly Brexit mess and Jeremy Corbyn's Labour party won't change it. It's time to change the future - it's time for a liberal voice for Tooting."

Esther Obiri-Darko- Green

"Our healthcare service is in crisis, being gradually eroded by competition and privatisation. St George’s in Tooting is seeing millions of pounds of healthcare funding spent on private companies instead of nurses and doctors.

"The Green Party will take the profit motive out of healthcare and restore a public NHS that will last for generations to come."

Dan Watkins- Conservative

"I voted Remain, but both the Conservatives and Labour accept the referendum result, so what is crucial now is getting the best Brexit deal for Britain. As a business owner who exports to the EU, I know how important a trade deal is for the jobs and incomes of Tooting residents.

"Only Theresa May can achieve this, and I would work hard alongside her to reach a successful outcome.

"I have lived in Tooting for the past 17 years and am well-known as a successful campaigner. As Tooting’s MP I would continue this work, strengthening our local economy, supporting our public services and protecting our community hubs."

Putney:

Justine Greening- Conservative

"I want to continue with my track record as an MP, working hard on the issues that matter to our community in Putney, Roehampton and Southfields, as I have been doing for the last 12 years - continuing to get the extra investment to improve local transport services, protecting our quality of life against extra aircraft noise from Heathrow and poor air quality, supporting local shops and amenities in Southfields and bringing jobs, homes and facilities to a regenerated Roehampton.”

Ryan Mercer- Liberal Democrats

"75 per cent of voters in Wandsworth voted to remain in the European Union. These people need a voice in parliament, standing up for our membership of the single market, the rights of EU citizens to remain in the UK and for a referendum on any agreed Brexit deal."

Ben Fletcher- Green

"The people of Putney suffer from some of the dirtiest air in the country.

"As a Putney resident I am extremely concerned about the impact toxic air has on our health and quality of life. I will campaign for strong and rigorous action to tackle air pollution and ensure the government steps up to their responsibilities to protect public health."

Labour candidate to be announced this week.

The general election will take place on June 8.
