A man has died after being hit by a train at Tooting Broadway station.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) sent an ambulance crew, two paramedics in cars and an incident response officer to the station at 7.55am.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The station was closed and the northern line southbound service between Stockwell and Morden suspended while paramedics from the LAS and London Air Ambulance Service, firefighters from the London Fire Brigade and officers from the British Transport Police and Metropolitan Police attended the scene.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner, a British Transport Police spokesman confirmed.
