People wanting to get fit for free can take advantage of a new series of exercise classes taking place in Radnor Gardens every Monday.

The sixteen week programme, commissioned by Richmond Council and launching next week (April 24), is aimed to help improve the physical health and wellbeing of the community.

The supervised exercise classes are designed for people who may not currently participate in any physical activity.

The programme ‘designs its classes around the needs of the local community’, and will run two classes per week.

The sessions are open to participants aged over 16 and last for 30 minutes.

Class provider, Our Parks, is one of London’s biggest organisers of free outdoor exercise classes.

The classes will be run by experienced, qualified instructors are booked on a first book, first served basis for the 20 spaces available.

The training sessions will be of two kinds – one a high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, and the other a bootcamp-style class mixing gymnastic-style movements with bodyweight exercises.

Councillor Pamela Fleming, Richmond Council Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “We have some of the most healthy, fittest residents in the country. But, there are some who cannot afford membership costs or don’t fancy training in a gym.

“These free boot camp sessions will hopefully give people a taste for exercising in our beautiful parks.”
