A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on an M25 slip road.

Surrey Police tweeted that the clockwise carriageway exit slip road to Chertsey at junction 11 would be closed "for some time" after a crash between a motorbike, a blue Ford Focus, a red Skoda Citigo and a white van at about 8.15am.

All lanes were re-opened after traffic was stopped to allow an air ambulance onto the carriageway.

The motorcylist was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Officers urged motorists to avoid the area and find alternative routes for their journeys if possible.

The exit slip road was reopened at about 12.45pm.
