Vince Cable announced his candidacy in an interview with LBC.

Following the announcement, he tweeted: "I plan to lead fight back to recapture Twickenham for Lib Dems. Brexit. Heathrow. School cuts. Social care. Plenty to campaign on."

Sarah Olney, Liberal Democrat MP for Richmond Park and North Kingston, said: “I am absolutely delighted. Vince is a massive figure in the party and I would be thrilled to work with him in parliament.”
