More than £4,000 has been raised for a charity that protects and improves the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules in the developing world.

Wimbledon Village Stables presented Brooke, along with the charity’s mascot Mini Fat Pony, with a cheque for £4,070, which was raised at the WVS’s 2017 charity ball.

The ball was held at Woodlands Park Hotel, Cobham, on March 11, where 110 members gathered the first year Brooke was the sole beneficiary of the event.

Petra Ingram, chief executive of Brooke, said: “We were delighted to be chosen as the charity beneficiary of this year’s Wimbledon Village Stables Charity Ball, and very grateful to all those who supported it.

“I had an excellent time at the ball and was happy to have the opportunity to visit the stables with Mini Fat Pony.

“She was happy to accept the cheque, and it will help Brooke reach even more working horses, donkeys and mules in the developing world.”

Last year, Brooke played an April Fools trick when they announced a decision to hire Mini Fat Pony as a member of staff- a ‘motivational education officer’.

Carol Andrews from Wimbledon Village Stables said: “This year’s ball was a fantastic success, and we were so excited to have Mini Fat Pony come to the stables so we could present this cheque to her and Petra.

“We are proud to support Brooke and are looking forward to next year’s ball.”
