An Erith couple almost were unable to go on their £850 holiday to Croatia after the details were mailed to the wrong address.

Doris Dean had booked a holiday with Thomsons to go to Croatia with her husband and was due a letter from the holiday company with the final details she needed to fill in.

However instead of turning up at their home in Erith, instead it showed up in Thamesmead, several miles away.

Doris, 64, said: “It was so clear, in plain letters on the brown envelope. It was so easy to see the address.

“It had all my details inside including, my phone number and my card details and address.”

Thankfully for Doris and her husband, the woman at the home in Thamesmead took it upon herself to do the postman’s job and deliver the letter herself.

Doris said: “I couldn’t get over her kindness, it’s a 20 minute car drive.

“It’s down to the sorting office, it’s not her postman’s fault but he should have read it.

“Obviously what he’s done is thought I will just shove it in here I suppose. He could have binned it so I’m lucky I suppose.”

“With this happening to me, it has made me more cautious. I won’t send anything of value by post anymore.”
